Motown Turns 50

In 1959 an ex-boxer without a job borrowed $800 from his family to found, arguably, the most influential record company ever.

The Founder of Motown, Berry Gordy, got the name from the nickname of his home town Detroit, which was also known as Motor City.

What followed was Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Diana Ross, the Jackson Five, Smokey Robinson and many other stars.
