Gay Military Students Graduate Openly At Academies
Gay students at America's military service academies are wrapping up the first year when they no longer had to hide their sexual orientation, benefiting from the end of the "don't ask, don't tell" policy that used to bar them from seemingly ordinary activities like taking their partners openly to graduation events.

The Return of Martha Stewart
Martha Stewart was named as non-executive chairman of the lifestyle, media and merchandising company that she created Wednesday.
Stewart rejoined the board of Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia Inc. in September at the end of a five-year ban on serving as a board member or as an executive of a public company as part a settlement with federal regulators related to insider trading.
As non-executive chairman, Stewart will help set the direction for the business but will have no direct operating role. An executive chairman would typically also hold a top management role such as being CEO.(AP)

2012 Naval Academy Herndon Monument Climb
Annapolis Naval Academy freshmen make a human wall to climb the Herndon Monument which is covered with lard, on May 22, 2012 in Annapolis, Maryland.
Each year the freshman class, known as 'Plebes,' climb the monument at the Naval Academy to retrieve the Plebian Sailor's hat and replace it with an officer's hat.
The tradition is one step in marking the end of wearing freshman headgear and moving up to headgear more like a U.S. Naval officer.
The Naval Academy's Class of 2015 succeeded in replacing the plebe hat with a midshipman's hat on the pinnacle of the 21-foot greased Herndon monument in 2 hours, 10 minutes, and 13 seconds.Midshipman 4th Class Andrew Craig, 19, of Tulsa, Okla., places the upperclassman's hat on top of the Monument.
