La Tomatina Festival - 2009

More than 45000 people from all over the world descended on the small Valencian town to participate in this year's La Tomatina festival, with the local town hall estimating that over 100 tons of rotten and over-ripe tomatoes were thrown.

Dominick Dunne Dead at Age 83
Dominick Dunne, the author and journalist who covered the trials of celebrity defendants like Claus von Bülow, O. J. Simpson and William Kennedy Smith, and wrote frequently on the intersection of high crimes and high society, has died. He was 83.
His son Griffin Dunne told the Web site of Vanity Fair, where Mr. Dunne was a special correspondent, that he died of bladder cancer at his home in Manhattan.

TED KENNEDY DEAD AT 77
Senator Edward M. Kennedy of Massachusetts, a son of one of the most storied families in American politics, a man who knew triumph and tragedy in near-equal measure and who will be remembered as one of the most effective lawmakers in the history of the Senate, died late Tuesday night. He was 77.
