Rallying for Their Rights: Teens Denounce Proposed Gay-Club Ban

(Above :Salt Lake City Democratic Sen. Scott McCoy, Utah's only openly gay state senator, addresses a crowd of about 300 at the Capitol on Monday. "This is family day at the Legislature," he said, adding that gay families deserve equal respect from lawmakers and protection by the law.)

A group of approximately 300 people rallied at the Utah State Capitol on Monday against a bill introduced by Senator Chris Buttars that would allow schools to eliminate gay-straight alliances and other groups promoting tolerance. The rally was organized by 18-year-old Meisja Turner. Said Turner: "We know who we are and we know what we believe. This is a way to let everyone know it's not a secret - it's no big deal [to be gay.]"

Buttars bill
was recently approved by the Utah Senate. Scott McCoy, an openly gay Senator from the state (above left), spoke at Monday's rally. "This is family day at the Legislature," he said, referring to gay families. Earlier this month, he spoke out about what purpose gay-straight alliances serve: "The most common epithets thrown about in our high schools are words like faggot and dyke. What these clubs exist to do is not to recruit people to change they way they live their lives. These clubs are simply places they can come together and say, 'We don't think people should be treated like that.'"

Tom Katt : Gay Porn Star Reborn ~ Ya Right

Gay adult-video legend Tom Katt reclaims Christian faith and retires from erotica. Re-emerging as David Papaleo, he identifies as straight but is sickened by right-wing Bible-thumpers who preach anti-gay hatred. Papaleo’s next stop — the pulpit.

In the mid 1990s, Tom Katt began regularly appearing in gay porn videos. The versatile bodybuilder made at least 15 sex flicks in his first two years. Handsome and talented, he started earning a lot of money. And for what it’s worth, Tom Katt became famous — in the world of erotica.

Over the years, steroids and growth hormones augmented his physique. Cocaine and pot made the good times seem happier, but the party train kept crashing. Inside, he felt something was missing. And in 2003, he walked away from the biz. Katt, who now goes by his birth name, David Papaleo, had found God.

Last month, Papaleo appeared on “The Gravedigger Show,” an Atlanta-based Christian TV program where he renounced the adult video world and said he was heterosexual.

On Internet discussion boards, fans of the porn legend posted messages: some were outraged, some felt duped and some encouraged his spiritual adventure. Through a Christian bodybuilding website, Dallas Voice e-mailed Papaleo and requested an interview. Two weeks later, he called and said he wanted to discuss his newfound faith, his sexual identity and a spiritual message for gays and lesbians. This is Papaleo’s first newspaper interview since his conversion.

Poll: Bush Ratings At All-Time Low

(CBS) The latest CBS News poll finds President Bush's approval rating has fallen to an all-time low of 34 percent, while pessimism about the Iraq war has risen to a new high.

Americans are also overwhelmingly opposed to the Bush-backed deal giving a Dubai-owned company operational control over six major U.S. ports. Seven in 10 Americans, including 58 percent of Republicans, say they're opposed to the agreement.

CBS News senior White House correspondent Jim Axelrod reports that now it turns out the Coast Guard had concerns about the ports deal, a disclosure that is no doubt troubling to a president who assured Americans there was no security risk from the deal.

The troubling results for the Bush administration come amid reminders about the devastating impact of Hurricane Katrina and negative assessments of how the government and the president have handled it for six months.

In a separate poll, two out of three Americans said they do not think President Bush has responded adequately to the needs of Katrina victims. Only 32 percent approve of the way President Bush is responding to those needs, a drop of 12 points from last September’s poll, taken just two weeks after the storm made landfall.

Gay Bashing In Rio

You just don't expect things like this to happen during Carnival, and yet yesterday in Rio two gay guys were brutally beaten by 5 men simply because they were kissing at the beach (and at the gay beach in front of Farme de Amoedo to make matters worse).

In their attempt to escape from the 5 aggressors, the couple ran away, and returned 40 minutes later only to gather their belongings and press charges.

As expected in Brazil, the police did nothing, and none of the aggressors was arrested.

Considering the amount of gay tourists who travel to Rio for Carnival, something has to be done immediately.

Drew Lachey Dancing With Brokeback Mountain Joke Censored

Drew Lachey is indeed the champion of ABC's Dancing With the Stars, but the dancing king had one of his ad-lib moments censored last week on Thursday night.

The handsome young star made a pretty funny joke about Oscar favorite 'Brokeback Mountain' during the show.

“Dancing With the Stars” fans on the West Coast didn’t get to see an off-color gag by eventual show winner Drew Lachey last week.

On the last show before Sunday's finale, Judge Bruno Tonioli joked to Lachey that a certain dance number could make him the star of “Brokeback Mountain: The Musical.” Lachey responded by grabbing a cowboy hat and covering his behind with it.

Censored

The gesture made it on the air on the East Coast, but apparently was cut from the West Coast feeds, where viewers hear Tonioli’s quip, but saw the audience’s response instead of Lachey’s.

A rep for the show — when asked if the gag was edited out — responded merely: “We’re not commenting on that.”

Random Boys

George Michael Arrested!

LONDON (Reuters) - Singer George Michael was arrested on Sunday on suspicion of possessing drugs after he was found slumped in a car in central London, a police source said.

Michael, 42, who has sold more than 80 million records worldwide during a 25-year career, was arrested in the Hyde Park area of the capital early on Sunday, the source said.

A London police spokesman issued a statement saying a 42-year-old man had been held on suspicion of possessing Class C drugs, a group in British law that includes cannabis, tranquillisers and some painkillers.

"We were called by a member of the public to a man seen slumped over the steering wheel of a car," the statement said. "He was arrested on suspicion of possession of controlled substances."

He was bailed to return to a police station in late March pending a police investigation.

Michael's manager and publicist could not be reached for comment.

Under British law, anyone convicted of having Class C drugs can be jailed for up to two years and face an unlimited fine, according to the Home Office Web site.

In a front page report, the Sun said the singer was found in a dark-coloured Range Rover parked on Hyde Park Corner, one of central London's busiest intersections.

The unsourced report said he was taken into police custody and was examined by a doctor. He had his photograph and fingerprints taken and was released after more than seven hours, the report said.

It is not the star's first brush with the law.

Michael was arrested in April, 1998, for engaging in a "lewd act" in a public toilet in Los Angeles, after which he ended years of speculation by announcing that he was gay.

He told Reuters in an interview last year that he was giving up the world of pop, saying he found the media attention and celebrity "unbearable".

The singer had a string of hits in the 1980s with the band Wham! before forging a successful solo career with albums such as "Faith", "Listen Without Prejudice, Vol. 1" and "Patience".

His Brazilian boyfriend Anselmo Feleppa died of an AIDS-related condition in 1993, and Michael fought a legal battle with his record label Sony in the early 1990s before being bought out in a deal reported to be worth $40 million (23 million pounds).

WTF - Will Young's Straight Urges

Will Young has confessed he lusts after girls as well as boys.

The openly gay pop star says he is sometimes tempted to jump between the sheets with a woman - and admits he can't rule out having sex with a girl in the future.

The heartthrob singer revealed to Britain's Heat magazine: "I do fancy girls sometimes.

"I'd say every once in a year-and-a-half, I'll get a moment when I could possibly sleep with [a girl].
"And my friends always say, 'What? We don't understand'. And then I'll say, 'It's fleeting'."
The star added: "But I like it. I'd never rule it out."

Last week, Will revealed he was left heartbroken when he lost his first love.

The singer split from his partner last year - and admits he has struggled to get over it.

He said: "I did meet my 'first significant one' but it ended six months ago. I was heartbroken when we broke up and it knocked my confidence.

"I suppose for a bit I thought it didn't work because I'm so famous and he couldn't cope with that. But I've realised that's nonsense. I can't blame my fame for the fact that I haven't got a boyfriend."

Canada Third in Medals in Turin, Italy

The Canadian Olympic Committee raised eyebrows when it boldly proclaimed a top-three finish and a minimum 25 medals at Turin. The concern was that it set the bar too high and raised unrealistic expectations.

"The 2006 Olympic Winter Games have been a great success for Canada," COC president Mike Chambers said Sunday. "We set an aggressive goal of a top-three finish at these Games and we will leave Turin having achieved that goal."

Canada won 24 medals – seven gold, 10 silver, seven bronze – to shatter the previous record of 17 set at Salt Lake City in 2002. Only Germany (29) and the United States (25) had more in Turin, but 13 Canadians posted fourth-place finishes with eight others coming fifth.

For the first time in a long time, Americans feel Canadians breathing down their necks. A Sunday headline on the ABC News website noted: "Canada is emerging as an Olympic powerhouse."

Bode Miller - 0 for 5 In Torino

Huummm - “It’s been an awesome two weeks,” Miller said. “I got to party and socialize at an Olympic level.”

Only medal for Bode is fool’s gold
Failing at the Olympics is forgivable, but getting fatter on beer is not.

For weeks now Nike has advised us to “Join Bode.” Join him where? At the bar? That’s one place you might find Bode Miller after the Turin Games, unless he’s in his motor home, finding new ways to duck all that pressure he put on himself.

Miller is the biggest disappointment in the Winter Olympics, not because of the way he skied the mountain, but the way he acted at the bottom of it. The fact that he didn’t win a medal at these Games, going 0-for-5 in the Alpine events, is beside the point. It’s not the winning, it’s the trying. The point is that he acted like he didn’t try, and didn’t care. Failing is forgivable. Getting fatter on beer while you’re here is not.

If there has been a weaker performance by an American athlete on the international stage than that of Miller, I’m hard pressed to think of one. To hear Miller tell it, he spent more time in Sestriere’s nightclubs than he did in actual competition, which amounted to less than eight minutes. Miller’s final Olympic event, the slalom, lasted all of 16 seconds. He bulled out of the start house, did a couple of quick scrimshaw turns, and promptly straddled a gate. Fair enough — Miller has struggled in the slalom this season, finishing just two of eight races, and it was a tough course. Nine of the top 29 skiers in the competition did not finish. It was Miller’s behavior afterwards that sealed his reputation as the goat of the games. He thrust his hands in the air, stuck out his tongue, and waggled in mock celebration. Then he skied off the course, avoiding the cameras and throngs of people at the bottom of the hill. When Associated Press reporter Jim Litke found him later, he declared, “Man, I rocked.”

Ladies & Gentleman Ms. Angie Dickinson

I loved watching Angie on Police Woman. Friday night at 8:00 on NBC. She always seemed to have to dress like a hooker to get the bad guy. Many times she would get herself in deep shit and have to be saved by the other cops on the squad.

It was cheesy but I watched ever friday night. Good thing I was only ten at the time or I'm sure I would have gone out and bought a gun and a blond wig... :)

Born: 9/30/1931
Birthplace: Kulm, North Dakota

A former beauty queen, she starred in the movies Rio Bravo (1959), The Chase (1966), Dressed to Kill (1989), and, in a very non-glamorous role, Pay It Forward (2000).

Her TV series Police Woman was on from 1975 to 1978 and Dickenson also appeared in numerous made-for-TV movies. She was married to the composer Burt Bacharach from 1966 to 1980.

So What’s Wrong with a Little Lisp?

Erik Piepenburg investigates what happens when some hot butch guys turn out to sound like little girls—and takes on the notion of “gay speech.”

All I can say is he looked butch to me.

Standing on a street corner in Chelsea one summer day was a 6-foot-3, ridiculously hairy hulk of a man wearing The Uniform: a wife beater, cargo pants, the latest sneakers (in a size well into the high teens), and sunglasses that made him look like a marine made over by Tom Ford.

Then he opened his mouth. “Gu-u-url, you shoulda s-s-s-e-e-en what I s-s-saw las-s-s’ night,” he purred deeply into his cell phone, with enough sibilance to make Paul Lynde sound like Vin Diesel by comparison.

The spell had been broken. Call it the “See Tarzan, Hear Jane” dilemma: A man judged by sight is judged quite differently by sound. As an old-school queen once told me regarding an allegedly butch number he’d picked up the night before: “Honey, he looked like rough trade at first. But then he opened his mouth, and I’ll be damned if a purse didn’t fall out.”

If clothes make the man, voice makes his manhood. As evidenced by my street encounter with Mr. Deceptively Masculine, how manly a man sounds when he speaks (or has sex) often determines how attractive he is to other men.

Prague: Hundred take part in march in support of homosexual partnership

PRAGUE- About a hundred people took part in a march through the historical centre of Prague in support of the introduction of registered partnership of homosexuals and against President Vaclav Klaus's recent vetoing the relevant bill.

The protest was organised by the young social democrats.

Stop to sexual racism, No to presidential veto, Love is not politics and We are not in Poland, read the posters the protesters carried.

"We ask deputies to prefer humanity to politics while deciding on the homosexual partnership bill. This bill would help a minority without harming the majority [population]. That is why we ask deputies to override the president's veto and pass the bill in its original shape," the organisers said in a statement.

The march set off from the Wenceslas Square and reached Prague Castle, the presidential seat.
To overcome Klaus's veto, the bill needs support from the absolute majority, or at least 101 of the houses's members.

The Chamber originally passed the bill late last year by the votes of 86 deputies across the political spectrum. Only the junior ruling Christian Democrats (KDU-CSL) were strictly against it.
