Algeria Got Condoms, But No Takers!

Algeria has 10 million free condoms to distribute but there are no takers, a senior medical official in the conservative Muslim country said Wednesday.

"In Algeria, where AIDS spreads mainly through sexual contact, 10 million free condoms are waiting in warehouses of the national pharmacy but there are no takers," said Mohamed Mesbah.

Some 19,000 of this north African country's 33 million people -- 0.05 percent of the population -- live with AIDS, according to the UN agency UNAIDS.

Algerian authorities offer dramatically lower estimates. At the end of last year, it said there were 746 AIDS cases and 2,175 people living with HIV.

After experts began talking about the benefits of condoms as barriers to spreading HIV/AIDS, the government began soliciting imams to preach about the virus and the risks of unprotected sex during Friday prayers.

They face an uphill task. Many Algerians in television interviews claimed AIDS can be transmitted simply by being in contact with someone who had it. Others, swayed by hard-line clerics, argue the virus aims to punish sexual deviants, including homosexuals.

A striking 40 percent of Algerian youth know "nothing about AIDS," nor about how to prevent it, according to an official survey published in November. (yahoo!news)

Captain Sidney Crosby

Pittsburgh Penguins' Sidney Crosby, left, takes questions while Penguins owner Mario Lemieux, right, listens during a news conference where the team announced that Crosby will be the team's new captain in Pittsburgh, Thursday, May 31, 2007.

Penguins Make Sidney Crosby Youngest Captain

That's Crosby, with a C. Sidney Crosby, already the youngest player in NHL history to get 100 points in a season and to win a scoring title, is now the youngest to wear the captain's C on his sweater. The Pittsburgh Penguins gave Crosby the long-anticipated title on Thursday, months after they initially wanted to do so.

At the All-Star break in January, general manager Ray Shero asked Crosby if he wanted to take on the responsibility of being a team captain while still a teenager. With the Penguins streaking at the time, Crosby didn't feel the timing was right. Now, he does.

"I understand there is going to be a lot more responsibility on my shoulders with this, but it's something I'm ready for," Crosby said. "I feel very comfortable with it and I'm just excited to get things going."

The Penguins' timing was more than coincidental. Crosby was 19 years and 297 days old when he became a captain; previously, the youngest captain in league history was Tampa Bay's Vincent Lecavalier (19 years, 324 days). Crosby would not have been the youngest had the Penguins waited until the season started in October to give him the C, as he turns 20 on Aug. 7.

"I was always told that age is just a number," Crosby said. "I try not to let it get in the way of anything."(

Adam Levine Talks About Dick

So we shouldn’t expect a sequel to your first album, Songs About Jane, called Songs About Dick?
No, I’m not into dick. I wish I were. It would be so much easier. Because, you know, men have a certain camaraderie with each other that’s easygoing and kind of simple, when you think about it. Sometimes men and women clash mentally, although physically it works out.

If you were into guys, who would be your type?
Oh, there are beautiful men out there. Antonio Banderas is gorgeous. Well, maybe not so much anymore. He peaked around Desperado. I mean, every male secretly wants to have sex with Brad Pitt, but that’s a given.

Hayden Christensen : Actor

enRoute Magazine: Here's a preview of the cover and pictures from the June 2007 issue of enRoute magazine ( Air Canada’s monthly inflight magazine.)

You can also read the article at the official
enRoute website.

Hayden Christensen was born in Vancouver, British Columbia on April 19th, 1981.
The young Canadian actor started his career at the age of 13 starring in several TV dramas. His biggest break was a starring role on the Fox Family network's "Higher Ground" (2000). On the series Hayden shows off his acting talent as a teen who was sexually molested by his step-mom, and turns to drugs in despair.
Later he appeared in the television movie Trapped in a Purple Haze (2000) (TV), where he co-starred with his friend Jonathan Jackson.

On May 12, 2000 Hayden announced that he would be starring as Anakin Skywalker in the next two prequels Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones (2002) and Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (2005).
The star was chosen by director George Lucas because he felt that Hayden had raw talent and good chemistry with actress Natalie Portman. Lucas stunned the movie world by picking the then-unknown actor after he had turned down such big names as Leonardo DiCaprio and Jonathan Jackson, as well as 400 other candidates.

Charlie Hunnam : Actor

Charlie Matthew Hunnam was born in Newcastle, England on April 10, 1980.

At the Car Wash, Girl!

Ooh ooh
You might not ever get rich
But let me tell ya it's better than diggin' a ditch
There ain't no tellin' who you might meet
A movie star or maybe even an Indian chief(Workin')
At the car wash
Workin' at the car wash, girl
Come on and sing it with me
(Car wash)
Sing it with the feelin' ya'all
(Car wash, girl)
Ooh!

Enrique Iglesias - Insomniac

"Enrique Iglesias is gearing up for the June 12 release of "Insomniac," his first album in three years. Iglesias wrote all the songs on the bilingual album, which includes collaborations with Sean Garret, Max Martin, John Shanks among others.

The first single, "Do You Know? (The Ping Pong Song)" in English and "Dimelo" in Spanish will be released to radio next week and will be followed by a video to be filmed in Los Angeles. As the name implies, the song starts out with the rhythm of a ping pong ball hitting a table. The album also includes the song "Push" featuring rapper Lil' Wayne's first time collaborating on a pop track."

2007 HERNDON MONUMENT CLIMB

The Herndon Monument Climb traditionally marks the end of the freshman, or Plebe, year at the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD.
The class, numbering over 1000, has a final challenge: scale the Herndon Monument, and replace the Plebe beanie at the top with a Midshipman's cap.
The monument has been liberally coated with lard the evening before by upperclassmen, who also helpfully spray water on the plebes during the climb.
