Congressman Foley Resigns Over Sexually Explicit Messages to Male Minor
NICE WORK CONGRESSMAN FOLEY!!!Saying he was "deeply sorry," Congressman Mark Foley (R-FL) resigned from Congress today, hours after ABC News questioned him about sexually explicit internet messages with current and former congressional pages under the age of 18.
A spokesman for Foley, the chairman of the House Caucus on Missing and Exploited Children, said the congressman submitted his resignation in a letter late this afternoon to Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert.
Hours earlier, ABC News had read excerpts of instant messages provided by former male pages who said the congressman, under the AOL Instant Messenger screen name Maf54, made repeated references to sexual organs and acts.
In a statement, Foley said, "I am deeply sorry and I apologize for letting down my family and the people of Florida I have had the privilege to represent."

The e-mails were sent from Foley's personal AOL account, and the exchange began within weeks after the page finished his program on Capitol Hill.
In one, Foley writes, "did you have fun at your conference…what do you want for your birthday coming up…what stuff do you like to do."
In another Foley writes, "how are you weathering the hurricane…are you safe…send me an email pic of you as well…"
The young man forwarded that e-mail to a congressional staffer saying it was "sick sick sick sick sick."

"Don't Ask, Don't Tell" Sparks More Arrests
Demonstrators protesting against "Don't Ask, Don't Tell," the ban on gays serving openly in the military, were arrested in Spokane and Little Rock on Wednesday.
Three people were charged with trespassing at an enlistment office in Spokane, Washington when they held a sit-in.
In Little Rock, Arkansas 8 people were arrested. Two people attempted to enlist in Little Rock. They were allowed to take a "pre aptitude test" but were rejected when they said they were gay. Fifteen supporters then staged a sit-in. The eight refused to move when ordered to do so by police. Bail has been set at $250 each.

A source told Us Weekly that the two have been dating since August. But, Lopez told People Tuesday there's no chemistry with his partner when they're off the dance floor.

Lopez has been married once, to Doritos model Ali Landry whom he had dated for six years. The couple wed on April 24, 2004, but Landry filed for divorce just two weeks later.
At the time, a source told People that Landry had recently discovered that Lopez was unfaithful for several years.
Born in the Ukraine, Smirnoff is a five-time U.S. National Champion and a top Latin dancer.

Ian Roberts Testifies In Friends Murder
FORMER rugby league star Ian Roberts told a court today how he was "terrified" that his public image would be destroyed after he learnt a teenage friend was the victim of a paedophile ring.
Roberts, who at the time had just publicly announced he was gay, said he was concerned people would link him with paedophilia because of his friendship with teenage prostitute Arron Light.
Arron was living at Roberts' Bondi home in 1996 when police informed him they were investigating a paedophile ring which allegedly abused Arron.
Roberts told Glebe Coroners Court today that the news had hit him "like a sledge hammer between my eyes''.
"I was terrified what people would think and that it would destroy me in the public arena," he added.
"Me having come out as a gay sports person one moment then to be involved in a child sexual assault case, it is always going to be situation where people of ignorance ... associated paedophiles with being gay.
"I had just come out now this happened, people are going to obviously assume it's all one and the same.
"I was very very uncomfortable about that.''
Roberts was giving evidence at an inquest into Arron's death.
The teenager disappeared in 1996 shortly before he was due to give evidence against a group of paedophiles.
His skeletal remains were found buried in a shallow grave on the banks of the Alexandria canal almost five years later.
The hearing continues.
