David Beckham showed flashes of flair and constructive soccer, but the star midfielder had a mostly uneventful game Wednesday night as Major League Soccer's Los Angeles Galaxy played to a 0-0 tie with the Vancouver Whitecaps of the United Soccer League in an exhibition soccer game at BC Place Stadium.
Beckham, the main attraction for a crowd of 48,172, started for the Galaxy, came off after 72 minutes, when he was replaced by defender Chris Albright.
There were scattered boos when the fourth official signalled Beckham's substitution, but the former England captain raised his right hand to salute the crowd and was applauded for his efforts.(keep reading)
