Cristiano Ronaldo's Goal Rescues Portugal

Cristiano Ronaldo scored an outstanding equalizer to help Portugal draw 1-1 away to Armenia in their Euro 2008 qualifier on Wednesday.

The Manchester United winger fired in a superb solo effort in the 38th minute after robbing an opponent and jinking his way into the penalty area before sliding the ball into the net.

The 22-year-old is serving a three-match domestic ban after being sent off against Portsmouth.

Hosts Armenia had taken a shock lead when Robert Arzumanyan headed in a corner in the 10th minute.

The result left Portugal in third place in Group A, four points behind Poland and two adrift of Finland - who have both played one more game.

Portugal's national soccer team members Bosingwa (L) and Cristiano Ronaldo take part in a practice session at the Republican stadium in Yerevan August 21, 2007. Portugal will play Euro 2008 qualifying soccer match against Armenia on August 22.
