The Roxy Nightclub Closes March 10, 2007 - The End

After 16 bumpy years, the gay mainstay The Roxy is finally shutting its doors. This Saturday is your last chance to tear off your shirt at the notorious far West Side club.

It's anyone's guess who will be in the crowd--will it be the Madonna "Vogue" devotees? The Madonna "GHV2" fans? Or maybe the fresh-faced Madonna "Confessions on a Dance Floor " crowd?

The Roxy, over the last few years, seems to have become irrelevant to everyone. The club has been shoved to the proverbial dustbin, with Splash, the Bank at Element party, Hiro on Sundays and Mr. Black draining away the people that used to (and would) make up its loyal patrons.

Still, it's saying something that any club could carve such a deep-rooted niche that it could stay open for 16 years in a very boom-and-bust business.

So, if you have the time, grease up your hair, throw on your Diesels and an Abercrombie T-shirt, and head over to 515 West 18th Street for your last chance to hear--in an authentic setting--Whitney's "It's Not Right But It's Okay" and lots and lots of Deborah Cox.

Oh, and to dance with those bridge-and-tunnel boys. Definitely that.
