Homosexuals should be thrown off buildings or burnt to death, a Muslim cleric has proclaimed.
Yusuf Qaradawi described gay people as “perverts” who should be “punished,” in an interview with Al Jazeera last week.
He said homosexuals should be treated the same as any other “sexual pervert.”
“The schools of thought disagree about the punishment. Some say they should be punished like fornicators. Some say we should throw them from a high place, like God did with the people of Sodom. Some say we should burn them, and so on. There is disagreement," he said.
He called the debate over gay rights in the Arab world a “calamity.”
London Mayor Ken Livingstone was criticised by gay groups in 2004 after inviting Mr Qaradawi, a vocal supporter of suicide bombers, to the city.

as a (gay) man raised in a muslim family, this is not surprising to hear ... its a shame these so-called islam warriors condone violence so much ... sigh!
few facts will calm down this heated debate
(1) like chriastians , jews ISLAM has also abhorred and condemed homosexuality.
(2) there are many practices condemed by major religions of the world like drugs, abortion, bribery,adulturey, fornification, murder, robbery etc. yet these evils persist from a long long time and in future also these evils will persist.
(3) religions other than ISLAM have a trait you may call it good or bad but they have a quality. they can make changes in their Value system. in their defination of good and bad very easily. ISLAM is regid. there is a COnceptof IJTIHAD that is making logical reasoning making or reinterpretating the scriptures etc. but their is flaw. what is made LAWFUL by Koran cannot be made unlawful and what is made UNlawful by KORAN cannot be made lawful. therefore from view of theory bases analysis ISLAM is in no position to tolerate homosexuality, however with increasing economic, military, media pressure from USA and other western countries the practice of homoxuality will also gain acceptance among muslims like all other evils. but for this to happen clash of civilazation between muslim world and western world cannot be avoided. bloodsed is very very for sensitive souls like us but there is no other way out
