Dumping Michael Phelps Backfires on Kellogg

When Kellogg announced it would not renew its endorsement contract with Olympic medalist Michael Phelps after a photo of the athelete smoking pot surfaced, it may have cost the food company its sterling reputation, reports company reputation index Vanno.

Out of the 5,600 company reputations Vanno monitors, Kellogg ranked ninth before it booted Phelps. Now it's ranked 83. Not even an industry-wide peanut scare inflicted as much damage on the food company's reputation.

Michael Phelps was stupid for doing as such. If the rest of America is just as stupid, God help us. Kellogg did what it thought was proper.

Kudos to Kelloggs for standing up for integrity and character, I will conitue to support them by enjoying their products. Shame on Michael, his accomplishments mean nothing now. His character is proven to be tarnished and spoiled. Not the role model for young adults.

Are you people for real??? "His accomplishments mean nothing now" because he smoked pot!!

You are a complete idiot!

Yep, leave it to the "Pot Heads" and they wonder why the world is a mess! Hey, keep smoking my friends because you obviously can't handle reality and responsibility. You're the same ones who will turn on him when Micheal ends up in "rehab" for the celebs! Maybe not, you will probably applaude this too because life is funny to you right?

Kelloggs deserves what it gets. I for one, don't care what Michael Phelps did - it's his life. If he can smoke pot and win eight medals, beating international competition, then more power to him.
We don't know if he is a habitual user or not. Kellogg's however, made that decision for us.
I guess Kellogg's do not realize who it's market is, after all people that smoke pot get the munchies and what do they eat, usually cereal.
I for one have stopped buying Kelloggs, only because they have shown that they are all about corporate greed, no loyalty and these days I've had enough of that.
Phelps lost sponsors, got suspended from the swimming team and humiliated. Alex Rodriguez - NOTHING, I guess in America it's okay to do steroids and win nothing than to have a picture of you smoking pot surface and have won 8 gold medals for your country. How sad.

Funny how some just "assume" what others do! The comments here sum up the point. NO RESPECT,
integrity, or thought of character. One day it will dawn on you and hopefully you will gain a wealth of wisdom and grow up.
