Jake Gyllenhaal is set to star in a Broadway play. The "Zodiac" actor has been offered a part in political drama "Farragut North" revealed the show's producer Jeffrey Richards.
The 26-year-old reportedly had a private reading for the role last week. He is expected to make a decision by this weekend, and if he accepts, it will be his Broadway debut.
The part would see Jake playing an idealistic communications director for an unorthodox U.S. presidential candidate.
"Farragut North" is said to be based on politician Howard Dean, who competed in the 2004 Democratic presidential candidate race. This isn't the first time Jake has shown an interest in politics.
In 2004, he supported the Rock the Vote campaign and campaigned for Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry. If Jake accepts the role, he will be following in the footsteps of many Hollywood stars who have swapped screen for stage.
In recent years, Gwyneth Paltrow, Kevin Spacey, Julia Roberts and Denzel Washington have all starred in theatre productions. (Source)
