Gay Porn Star Josh Weast Fired as High School Coach

Gymnast worked with cheerleaders

A tumbling coach who worked with cheerleaders at Mater Dei Catholic High School was banned from school property after a principal learned the 22-year-old gymnast starred in gay porn videos.
While Josh Weast of O'Fallon was not a school employee, he said he was allowed for the past three years to use the Mater Dei gym to coach about 40 girls and boys whose parents had hired him through a private gymnastics school.
Weast said he regretted making the videos about a year ago at a time when he needed the $2,000 or so per film he was paid. Still, he views his private life as separate from his coaching activities.
"This was something that was personal, and I didn't think high school students should know about it. It was really none of anybody's business," he said of the two videos he made under a stage name.
Mater Dei Principal Dennis Litteken said that under no circumstances would he allow a porn star to interact with students.
"The second we learned of the issue, he was no longer allowed on the premises.... I just do not believe it was a good example for our students," Litteken said.
And the executive director of a well-known Illinois gay rights groups said private religious schools have a legal right to enforce their own values as long as federal anti-discrimination laws are not violated.
Rick Garcia, the political director of Equality Illinois, said that while the school probably could not ban Weast for being gay, it could keep him out for being a porn star.
