The number of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender characters on prime-time broadcast television is up this season, and the folks at the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation are crediting Fox's "Glee" with leading the way.
Just last week, the critically acclaimed musical comedy featured a scene in which Kurt Hummel (played by Chris Colfer) told his father he was gay.
GLAAD's latest study, titled "Where We Are on TV," finds that 18 of 600 network regulars on this season's scripted comedies and dramas are lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender (LGBT) characters.
ABC leads the networks with eight such characters. Fox, which only two seasons ago had no LGBT series regulars, now has four. NBC has three, CW has two, and CBS has none. (keep reading)
