Was Christopher Skinner's Murder a Gay Hate Crime?

On Sunday morning October 18 2009 at 3:05 a.m., Toronto police were called to Adelaide Street East and Victoria Street, where a fight had reportedly occurred between a 27-year-old man and the occupants of a black SUV.

Police allege the victim, who they have identified as Christopher Skinner, was knocked to the ground. "After the occupants returned back to their vehicle, the driver ran over the victim,"

Chris Skinner, 27, later died in a Toronto hospital.

Friends and family have suggested Mr. Skinner may have been targeted because he was gay, but police have said they have no information to support that.

Christopher Skinner had recently written his law school admission test and had plans to marry his partner next year. He'll be laid to rest tomorrow in Uxbridge.

Anyone with information should call 416-808-7410 or 416-808-7406 or contact Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477) or www.222tips.com .
