Mission Accomplished : DADT is History

On Tuesday September 20th at 12:01am EDT (0501 GMT), "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" (DADT) policy, which has been in effect since the Clinton administration, became history.

After years of debate and months of final preparations, the US military can no longer prevent gays from serving openly in its ranks.

The military has no events or formal ceremonies planned to mark the occasion, but gay rights groups are preparing a series of celebrations around the country.
