There were 6 beaches attacked Sword Beach, Juno Beach, Gold Beach, Omaha Beach Pointe du Hoc and, Utah Beach.
The date scheduled to invade on June 5, 1944, but was postponed due to bad seas and weather.
The next day which was June 6, 1944 General Dwight D. Eisenhower decided to attack the beaches.
