Living in a country where same-sex marriage and adoption by same-sex couple (even with the hypocrisy of the agencies) are legal, I couldn't believe that prop 8 passed, especially in California...

I was wondering would a federal law, decree, WE... ensure anything seeing as there is now differences beteen states, isn't it a state prerogative instead of a federal one?
