45th Anniversary of JFK's Assassination

November 22 marked the 45th anniversary of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.

In 1963, John F Kennedy was hit in the head and throat when three shots were fired at his motorcade.

A bullet also seriously wounded Texas governor John Connally, who was in the car. Both were accompanied by their wives, who were uninjured.

The presidential party was driving from Dallas airport to the City Centre when witnesses said shots were fired from the window of a building overlooking the road.

Mr Kennedy's limousine was driven to Parklands Hospital immediately after the shooting.

Lee Harvey Oswald was accused of the shooting. He denied any responsibility for the murders.

Vice president Lyndon Johnson was sworn in as the 36th president of the United States.

Two days later, before Oswald could be brought to trial for the crime, he was shot on live television while being transferred under police custody from the police station to jail.

In 1964, the FBI and the Dallas Police Department concluded that Lee Harvey Oswald was single-handedly responsible for Kennedy’s death. (NBC)
