Is Larry Birkhead Gay?

Larry Birkhead, who last week was confirmed as the father of Anna Nicole Smith’s baby, is now at the centre of gay rumours.

Former model Kerrick Ross spoke to American tabloid The National Enquirer about his affair with Birkhead, who he accuses of being in the closet.

Apparently the pair was together for two months and enjoyed numerous sexual encounters before Birkhead met Anna Nicole in US state Kentucky. Birkhead and Smith met in May 2004 at the Barnstable Brown Gala, a major Louisville-area Kentucky Derby parties.

"America doesn't know the whole story about Larry Birkhead," Kerrick, 38 of Kentucky, told The Enquirer.

"He apparently had sex with Anna Nicole and fathered her baby, but there is no question: He also had sex with me! We were together for about two months and had sex eight to 10 times, always at my apartment. He often spent the whole night with me."

Ross alleged that he met Birkhead in 2000 at a cocktail party while Birkhead was struggling to establish a career in real estate. He said Birkhead craved a career in Hollywood.

Although Ross was out, Birkhead was in the closet and “was terrified about his family, who were devout Southern Baptists, finding out he was having a gay relationship.”

"He was especially afraid of his father finding out. He said, 'If my Dad knew about this, he would kill me!',” Ross continued.

"He was more comfortable saying he was bi-sexual," Ross told The Enquirer. "I never knew him to go out with women when we were together, but I found out after we broke up that he had been seeing women."

Birkhead's lawyers have denied the gay rumours.

On April 10, 2007, a Bahamian court ruled that DNA testing proved that Larry Birkhead was the father of Dannielynn Hope Marshall Stern, the daughter of Anna Nicole Smith.
