Despite his popularity with LGBT audiences, singer and actor extraordinaire Nick Jonas has gone on the record saying he doesn’t really consider himself a gay icon.
In a recent interview with L’Uomo Vogue for its December issue, Jonas was asked what he thought of being so highly regarded by his gay fans, and while he was humbled, he was hesitant to call himself an icon.
“It’s an honor, but I don’t think of myself as an icon,” Jonas said. “There should be a lot more straight artists who don’t have a problem with having gay fans.”
Jonas’s reluctance to identify as a musical hero for queer people follows last month’s refusal to confirm or deny that he'd experimented sexually with men. (Advocate)
