Brooklyn Nets Officially Sign Jason Collins As First Openly Gay NBA Player

The Brooklyn Nets have officially signed openly gay NBA player Jason Collins to a 10-day contract.

He will become the first openly gay player on an NBA team when he suits up Sunday night for the Nets’ game against the Los Angeles Lakers. He will also be the first openly gay player in the “Big Four” sports in the U.S.

Nets general manager Billy King says “The decision to sign Jason was a basketball decision. We needed to increase our depth inside, and with his experience and size, we felt he was the right choice for a 10-day contract.”
