Robbie Rogers Joins Galaxy, Becomes 1st Openly Gay Male Athlete in U.S. Pro Soccer

Robbie Rogers has been officially added to the LA Galaxy roster and is cleared to play in the team's home game against the Seattle Sounders on Sunday night (11 pm ET, ESPN2, live chat on MLSsoccer.com), the club announced.

Rogers officially signed with the Galaxy on Saturday, marking his return to the game after he had announced his retirement and revealed that he is gay earlier this year. But he and the team were waiting for the English FA to issue an International Transfer Certificate for the former Leeds United winger, which finally went through Sunday.

Is Major League Soccer really ready for a gay player? We are about to find out!

He should be greatly commended by all, including his team mates. And, glen mc, that comment was about as funny as a crutch.
