Gay Rugby Star Gareth Thomas Joins UK 'Celebrity Big Brother'

Former Crusaders player Gareth Thomas is one of several celebrities to enter the Big Brother house which begins tonight on Channel 5.

Thomas, 37, announced his retirement from all forms of rugby just before last years Four Nations tournament where he was due to play for Wales. Before his retirement Thomas was linked to a shock move to Wigan Warriors. The former rugby union international has recently become an official ambassador for the 2013 Rugby League World Cup.

Thomas hit the headlines in 2009 when he came out as gay, at the time Gareth was playing for Cardiff Blues.

Celebrity Big Brother is a spin-off program from Big Brother which first aired in 1999 and features a group of celebrities living in a house, isolated from the outside World and continuously watched by television cameras.(source)
