World AIDS Day 2010 - Universal Access & Human Rights

Every year, on December 1, World AIDS Day is celebrated around the globe. The day is meant to remind us of the impact of HIV and AIDS on the world's health.

On World AIDS Day, we emphasize the progress made in the battle against the epidemic, bring into focus remaining challenges, and to raise funding for HIV prevention and treatment.

The general theme for this day is: ''Stop AIDS: Keep the Promise.'' Each year, a related theme is highlighted, so the 2010 theme is "Universal Access and Human Rights" - a call to action to improve access to HIV care and treatment.
