Djimon : Calvin Newest Underwear Model

Djimon Hounsou and Mark Wahlberg have something in common. Not only were the two actors nominated for best supporting actor at the Oscars, but Hounsou is now a Calvin Klein model.

Following the footsteps of Wahlberg's modeling career, the African actor is posing in just his Calvin's for the Fall 2007 line.

The "Blood Diamond" star said, "As a child growing up in Africa, I could have never dreamed that I would be where I am today. Representing such an iconic American brand like Calvin Klein Underwear signifies to me that I have been accepted. This carries more meaning for me than you can imagine. Dreams really do come true."

Hounsou's unique looks and toned physic are what helped seal the deal for the designer brand.

Tom Murry, President and Chief Operating Officer of Calvin Klein, Inc, said, "Djimon's look and style complement his accomplished acting career and make him uniquely suited to represent the Calvin Klein Underwear brand, and specifically the introduction of Calvin Klein Steel."

The star of films such as "The Island" and "Amistad" began his career as a model in Europe. Hounsou made a name for himself in the fashion industry after getting his big break from Thierry Mugler in Paris.

Bob Mazzoli, Chief Creative Officer of Calvin Klein Underwear, noted that the star is joining the company on its 25th anniversary. He said, "We are energized by the prospect of working with a talent such as Djimon Hounsou. Together we will celebrate the 25th anniversary of Calvin Klein Underwear and yet another ground-breaking international product launch, Calvin Klein Steel, in Fall 2007."
